  • 1.  10G base T to 10G SFP+ adapter

    Here's the scoop.

Purchased a 5406R with 3 10G-T modules to replace 2 6600-48xg switches. Now we're looking at incorporating the 6600 switch with the 5406R  in some capacity. Dilemma, we'd like to use the 10G ports on both switches, but on is Base T and other is SFP+. Does hp make an adapter for Base-T to plug into an SFP+ module?

    Thanks,

I assume you have the HP 6600-48G-4XG Switch (J9452A) and a 5400R with 3x HP 8-port 10GBASE-T v2 zl Module (J9546A) and want to connect the SFP on the 6600 to one of the module ports?

In that case no, there is no HP adapter or "gizmo" that has an RJ45 connector on one side and SFP on the other.

    Hi Scooter,

That is the exact senario. I did see the 1G BaseT to SFP adapter (J8177C). So I was hoping there would have been a 10G B-T SFP+ adapter.

    I haven't seen a 10Gb copper SFP+ transceiver either.

What I have seen are 10Gb copper cables, with an in-built SFP+ copper transceiver on each end, which doesn't help you because your problem is that one of your ends isn't SFP+.

Also, copper cables are limited in length.

You may need a media converter to link between SFP+ and 10GBASE-T like:

Big question is... Are those adapters compatible with HP Switches???

You would have to ask the manufacturer to code it for you so the Procurve switch accepts
