1950 IRF stacking and ARP table size limit

    Dear All, My location has 10+  HPE 1950 switches. We do not have any other models/brands. I need something to serve as a core switch. I know 1950 are not really built for that, one of the reasons being the ARP table size limit. I would like to know if I build an IRF stack can I expect the ARP table size limit to grow proportionally to the number of switches in the stack. Single 1950 has an ARP table size of 256 entries. Does IRF stack consisting of two 1950 switches have the ARP table size of 512 or is it still 256? Thanks in advance.

    Helmut,

    Unfortunately not.  IRF makes the stack look like a virtuall switch and 1 member is designated the master.  It handles the ARP service.  So you are limited to 256 entries.

    A 5130 HI or 5510 HI would be a more suitable core switch.
