Some dual linked AP-225s set to a static LAG on an Aruba CX switch were working fine. The APs were swapped with AP-515s using the existing cabling and switchport config - clients could no longer connect to the AP-515s. The switchport config was then changed to active-LACP and everything started functioning correctly again (LACP statistics appearing, clients able to connect). Can someone explain why the 2xx series was able to function on a static LAG but the 5xx series cannot?

Clients connecting to the 2xx series were still able to form GRE tunnels to the cluster in active-standby but 5xx series in unable to do this? If there is a dual connection it works in LACP active-active or not at all?

I know there has been a bit of a transition over time between 2xx and 5xx series behaviour when dual connected (+ introducing the cluster in AOS8 meaning no need for configuring a striping address) but a proper explanation would be useful. Thanks.
