I want to upgrade my 5140 48G 4SFP+ EI device.
The current version is 7.1.070, Release 6327, so it has not been upgraded for a long time.
The current target version is 7.10 R6370.
Is it possible to upgrade directly?
Since this is my first time upgrading the OS, I tried to find related information in the release notes, but could not find it.
Is there no upgrade path for HPE switches?

Additionally, I've noticed that this switch doesn't allow copying via the USB port(only tftp or ftp). Is this correct?

    Thank you.

You can straight away upgrade to R6370. There is no upgrade path. Usually, the HPE Comware devices can be upgraded directly to the latest versions. Unless you plan to do an ISSU, for which you may refer to the ISSU compatibilty matrix in the release notes. Assuming this is a standlaone device, you may straightaway upgrade to your target version.

You may use the web-GUI to upgrade the firmware easily:

    Thank you for answering.

My HPE 5140 switch's bootrom version is 141.

But the version I target says that bootrom version higher than 163. (I can see this in release note 5140EI-CMW710-R6370.zip Hardware and software compatibility matrix)

Is it Okay to upgrade directly?

Will this bootrom version be automatically upgraded when the OS is upgraded?

Does this bootrom version only affect when upgrading by ISSU?

Thank you very much for your replying.

Yes, this upgrade also updates the Boot ROM to 163.

I just tried an upgrade from Boot ROM 148 , the upgrade went just fine.

BootROM shouldn't be an issue while using ISSU either.

Thank you very much for your answer.

    I have one last question.
When upgrading via CLI or GUI, should I upload the entire zip file or should I unzip it and upload only specific files (bin or ipe)?

    Thank you!!

Yes, extract and only upload the .ipe file from the package.
