    Hello -

We have a mix of the older "Instant" 505 and 515 Campus Access Points.  I used the GUI on the Virtual Controller to upgrade the firmware from 8.12.0.4_91755 to 8.13.1.0_93688, using Gemini for the 505's and Draco for the 515's.

The 505s updated and stayed connected to the Virtual Controller.  However, the 515s did not update and disconnected from the VC.

I'm consoled into one of the 515's now - I've done the paperclip reset and confirmed it sees the reset request in the console.  The AP comes up to the default password.  Typically, we have the AP connected to a jack configured for Trunk on our switch to carry our VLANs to the AP.  However, if it is connected to this trunk port it will never get an IP address after the reset.

If I connect it to a jack configured for normal Access, it does get an IP in the expected range.  It will NOT connect to the VC due to the firmware mismatch.  When I attempt to update the firmware via CLI command, i get "We could only upgrade image via conductor".  I cannot access the AP via the GUI because I get redirected to the Virtual Controller, even though the AP is not connected.

How can I get out of this loop?  I either need to assign an IP to the AP while connected to the Trunk jack so I can download the firmware, or I need some way to update the firmware when connected to the Access jack.

    Thanks,

    UPDATE:

Figured it out - needed to put the AP on a different VLAN from the other APs / Virtual Controller.  This let the AP grab an IP address from DHCP on that VLAN, then I was able to update the firmware via the CLI.  After that, it was able to rejoin the VC when I reset the AP while connected to the VLAN with the Virtual Controller.
