Has anybody seen random crashes on the J8702A 24 port PoE module for the 5400zl? I'm waiting for the log info to be sent through, and will post/report to HP soonest. All switches concerned are running K.11.41 and very basic configs.

If you're currently using PCM+ Traffic Monitor or some other sFlow utility, I would recommend you disable it for the time being. If this fixes it I would contact HP to advise them as they may have newer software that addresses this crash.

I had similar problems with the 5406zl, but found when I removed all entries in the community service(public) the problems were resolved. It appears any PCM or sflow monitoring had a effect on performance and stablilty of the switch, and the new firmware doesn't fix it!

    Hi@ll!

Have anyone some news about the module crash?

We have the crash on the 24 Port Mini-GIBIC module.

We tried it with the K.11.49 that we got from the Helpdesk, but with the same problems.

Now we disabled SNMP and it seems to run.

But it could not be a durable solution.

Thank you in advanced for the answers.

    Bye

    Hello @ll!

Now we got the K.11.63 from the Helpdesk to fix the SNMP Problem.

´But after 8 hours the switch was running with this SW version there was again an blade crash!

    W 11/08/06 17:17:39 00274 chassis: (85) Slot A: Blade Crash detected - Available
    I 11/08/06 17:17:45 00375 chassis: Slot A Downloading
    I 11/08/06 17:17:46 00376 chassis: Slot A Download Complete
    W 11/08/06 17:17:54 00274 chassis: Slot A Data Bus Error: Addr=0x704a613c
    8/06 17:17:58 00422 chassis: Slot A Ready

I don´t know what HP is doing there!!!

I would stop SNMP, and try to re-enable it when I would install other new releases. If this is a software problem, maybe eventually HP will solve it. If it is a harware problem, then any upgrade would just not work the problem out, and stopping the SNMP would be the desired solution.

    Hi!

We disabled and enabled SNMP for each new SW version.

Now we updated the PCM to update nr.8.

    We will see.

Before we change all the modules and the chassie.

So, you mean that this is an hardware problem from the production?
