Subject: 6300 10Gbps DAC connectivity over 3m
We sometimes have a situation where we would like to connect a stack of 6300s (usually 6300F 48-port PoE, JL665A) back to a JL658A 6300M 24-port 10Gbps SFP+ core switch in a cabinet that is greater than 3m away (once routing through the cabinet is accounted for).
Below 3m we use J9283D 3m 10Gbps DAC. Previously the 3810/2930 switches were compatibly with J9285D which was 7m long, but the 6300 datasheet does not list this as a compatible part (it explicitly lists the 1m and 3m cables).
Could we instead use the 5m 25Gbps SFP28 DAC JL489A with it auto-negotiating to 10Gbps in the SFP+ ports on the core switch? Or we do need to use a pair of standard 10Gbps transceivers J9150D and an OM4 fibre patch lead between them? Is there another option?
Note that there are not sufficient SFP28/56 ports available at the core after stacking to support using them directly.
