It should work, I would recommend you use WPA/WPA2 instead though if possible.

Windows XP should allow, it has no problem with the 64bit or the 128bit.

What may not support is the wireless card.

Anyway, go for WPA or WPA2 like Matt's suggestion, its more secure, WEP can be easily hacked.

    Good Luck !

WEP slows down bandwidth due to every packet is encrypted. I prefer the MAC address list and hide the SSID to WEP or WPA.

Thanks very much for all your immediate inputs. Let me explain the actual issue. I am a Tech-Support Executive. Yesterday, one of our Customers came with the following query: He is using 64 Bit WEP for all the three computers with Windows XP SP1 in his Wireless Network. And he is trying to add his new Notebook with Windows XP Sp2 to that Network. Everything went fine. He added the SSID and when he tries to enter the 10 digit, 64 Bit WEP Key, it is accepting only 8 Digits, while the other computers working fine with that 10 digit key. So he is unable to make the Wireless connection from that new Notebook. What may be the issue?

More than likely he is trying to input on the wrong selection. Most times there is hex encoding ) or ascii.

They all have to have the same type of coding and key.

I would venture he is entering the wrong type and not seeing it.

I don't think so. Because, he is not a novice customer. He has already configured 3 other computers successfully and using it. Any other causes?
