Wireless Access

I have been trying to install/copnfigure an 802.11b multiport on an Evo N400c running MS windows 2000. The troubleshooting info is minimal in the manual and the disk.

Does anyone know any secrets to getting this to work? I get a green light on the taskbar icon even when I nowhere near an access point.
But I can't connect or even see any networks anywhere I go (Starbucks, airports, hotels,etc.)

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Download a program called Netstumbler from http://www.netstumbler.com/. Netstumbler is a WiFi scanning program that attempts to locate any WiFi systems within your reception range. This will tell you whether your hardware is working properly and give you information on the quality of the signal. Check for any updated drivers for your WiFi card. I have had a few problems with WiFi that were miraculously fixed with the updated drivers.
