    Hi,

Am I right in thinking the campus gateways are the same as controllers and do the same thing? If so, why might I still consider deploying it if I'm on Aruba central?

    Thanks

No. In AOS-8, the majority of the services were centralized on and coupled to the controller. In AOS-10, they are centralized in Central. Check out this page for when to reach for gateways in AOS-10: Gateway Deployments | TechDocs - WLAN, SD-Branch, & Location Services.

thanks, so in the mobility role it would act as a controller? and in terms of scaling if I know I would have more than 5000 client devices in my domain, then that's when I would need a mobility gateway?

No, the "controller" construct is limited to AOS 8.  In AOS 10 the unit acts as a gateway, reflecting the change of the unit from a controlling device to a datapath gateway.

Yes, gateways are required for AOS 10 WLAN deployments that will exceed 500 APs or 5,000 clients.
