Hello, I have recently changed to 515 IAPs managed by Aruba Central. Since the changeover, I noticed a strange SSID "_owetmSSIDnnnnnn" where SSID is the guest wifi network SSID and nnnnn is a number.  So far I only noticed it on the guest WiFi which uses an active portal to sign in.  I have not created the SSID but devices are connected to it. I have been in touch with TAC and we thought it was something temporary and that it might go away.  It is still there after over 5 months.

Does anyone know what this is ?

    Thank you in advance.

That is OWE Transition mode. OWE is part of WPA3 and for clients that don't support OWE there is a backup SSID and one OWE SSID broadcasted. For more details, you could check this presentation, more specific slide 18&19.

Can you please share with me in a personal message the support case number where TAC suggested that it 'may go away'?

    Hi Herman

Thank you so much for the response and the presentation file.

The conversation I had with TAC on the issue was brought up while they were working on a different ticket.  So I do not have a specific support case for it. Although I did create a new case for it a couple of days ago which I will update with the info I receive from you.

I can't seemm to find your e-mail to send you a personal message with the new support case if you still need it.

    Thanks again
