Hi,
I am migrating the airwave server from one data center to totally new datacenter.
So unfortunately I will not be able to keep the same IP address for the airwave server.
After reading numerous document about the migration process. it sounds easy but I still have some questions.
Here is how I understood the process at high level
Deploy new airwave server with same version as existing airwave.
Take recent nightly backup from existing airwave server and transfer to new airwave server.
Get the licenses rehosted to new airwave server ip address.
restore the backup on the new airwave server.
install re-hosted licenses on the new airwave server.
migrate devices over to point to new airwave server.
in our environment we have IAP clusters. so I am assuming I would be updating Group > APGROUP-TEST > Instant Config > Menu > System > Admin and fill out new Airwave IP ?
Here are some other questions I have.
- Are licenses included in the backup?
- Does that mean we have to restore the backup first and then rehost the licenses?
- If yes do we have to delete the licenses and add the new rehosted licenses again?
- Do I restore the license first with new airwave ip or restore the backup on new airwave?
- What happens to licenses on old airwave server once licenses been updated by the Aruba support to point to new airwave server ip address?
- Will both old and new airwave server continue to support the environment?
- What is the recommended method of restoring the backup?
- one thing I have noticed that if I try to restore the back using GUI, It will do the upload and restore at the same time at least this is my understanding?
- With CLI I would be able to upload the backup file ahead of time and then kick off the restore process when I am ready?
Thanks in advance, I will be looking forward to get useful feedback.
