Definitely no reason not to use the latest version.
Newer versions are required to support newer HW for monitoring (alongside the usual bug fixing).
The only thing that you might have seen is that 8.2.10 was also bringing AMP from CentOS 6 to CentOS 7.
For earlier installs, this required a fresh install + backup & restore. It is not possible to perform an in-place upgrade. Perhaps that kept a few folks out there on older versions for a while longer until they were ready to do the effort.
I guess other than that, AMP was just working for most folks out there without need for immediate upgrade.
That being said, for anyone reading this, always be mindful of the End of Support timelines:
End of lifeAt the time of me writing this, anything older than 8.2.12.1 is already end of support (with EoS for this version approaching by end of March 22)!
