  • 1.  AOS-CX Inserted module does not match the configured module

    Hello
I have a couple R0X24A 6405 Chassis that I have experienced this issue with.  Once I have finished the configuration all the cards/modules will still be green on the light indicators, but after booting it up again a couple cards will be flashing amber.  I get the message in the logs "Inserted module does not match the configured module" but when I look in the code I see that the product numbers match in the code and physically on the cards themselves.  When I move the cards over to a different slot this usually resolves the issue and they come back green on the light indicators.  Can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong or if this is some kind of glitch?  It is a pain when I have pre-configured a switch and then when I get onsite and install it some of the cards aren't working. Appreciate any input, thanks

These are the modules in the switch that I was experiencing this with.
    module 1/3 product-number r0x40b
    module 1/4 product-number r0x41a
    module 1/5 product-number r0x38b
    module 1/6 product-number r0x41a
    module 1/7 product-number r0x38b

    Hello Mason, that's pretty strange.

What ArubaOS-CX software version is running on your Aruba CX 6405 switch?

It would be interesting to see the sanitized output (pre-/post- issue) of the command: show module for a global recap (or show module <SLOT-ID> for a particular Slot).

    Hello thanks for the response.
    The firmware version is FL.10.05.0021
I will try to replicate the issue tomorrow and post that output for you

Hi! undoubtly, if I were you, I would immediately update to latest ArubaOS-CX 10.05.0070 software build published on late April 2021 (or, alternatively as a better option, move to latest software builds respectively of ArubaOS-CX 10.06 - build 10.06.0190 of March 2022 - or 10.07 - build 10.07.0070 of March 2022 - software branches <- direct upgrade from 10.05 is supported in both cases, moving directly to 10.08 or 10.09 from 10.05 is not supported instead)...and I'd do that mainly (but not only) because of this important Warning (see RN of Aruba CX 6400 Switch series):

"Aruba switches covered by this release note use eMMC or SSD storage. This is non-volatile memory for persistent storage of config, files, databases, scripts, and so forth. Aruba recommends updating to version 10.05.0060 or 10.06.0100 or later (including this release) to implement significant improvements to memory usage andprolong the life of the switch"

Did you already opened a Case on ASP (Aruba Support Portal)?

Thanks for the recommendation.  That is most likely what I will do.  I have not opened a case with ASP for this yet

For anyone else who may have experienced this, I read in the firmware release notes for 10.06.0190 that both of the issues I've seen with the Aruba-CX switches were listed as fixes under this version.

I was reading that exact bug fix id yesterday on 10.06.0190 RN but I've to admit I was not sure enough it was relevant to your scenario (particularly about the hot swapping reference) so I went ahead. Good!
