Controllerless Networks

Hi,

We have some of the above AP's branded Dell, worked perfectly for 6 years until a reboot yesterday when there were power works on site.

We can see that the AP's are on through the switch management and can reboot the switches by turning off the POE

The AP's come on but never get an IP and from what we can see on the switch they are rebooting every 2/3 minutes

We do not currently have access but will have at 7am tomorrow morning so I do not know what the lights are doing on the APs

Has any one seen this sort of behavior before?

Hi Karl,

Actually yes, I've seen that before. I cannot find it now (but I'll try to dig it up), but there is a document that explains the conditions in which an IAP reverts back to default configuration. I'll update here when I find the link...

Don't worry I have fixed the problem, once on site we quickly realised that the switches were missing the IP helper to point them towards the DHCP server.

It's not your situation, but I still think it's a weird feature. If you configure static addresses, why would you ever want them to revert to DHCP?
