  • 1.  AP-305 ceiling rail adapters

Aruba recently changed the ceiling rail adapters that come with an AP-305 from two seperate adapthers (9/16" and 15/16") to a combined adapter that looks like a plus sign.  We are having problems with these adapters since most of our ceiling tile hang below the grid and the new adapters push up on the tile.  Has anyone else experienced this?  And if so what options are available?  Is there another piece of hardware that can be purchased?  I do have over 4,000 APs to upgrade so hopefully there is a solution that scales well.

The AP-220-MNT-C2 is orderable (it's just no longer included with the 30x APs as you now get that unified single peice). You can also use the AP-220-MNT-CM1 which is a metal bracket that is slimmer in construction than the plastic mounts.

Thanks for the response jhoward!  I tried the AP-220-MNT-C2, but those are meant for a thicker ceiling grid.  On a traditional ceiling grid these wobble too much.  I'll order a couple AP-220-MNT-CM1 and see if they work better.

The CM1 supports both the flatter 9/16 and 15/16 flat rails as well as Interlude/Silhouette. Just note they are more labor to install as you have to secure the mount to the ceiling with a screw (the two parts clamp around the rail). While it's metal and far more secure, it's more labor to install.

Just to be clear, the functional equivalent mount kit for the combined one that now ships with the AP-305 is AP-220-MNT-C1, not -C2.

The C1 kit attaches to the same two flat mounts as the combined one, but this kit has the original two separate pieces. The C2 kit is indeed for other rail types.

The metal CM1 kit will work as well, but is indeed a bit more difficult to install.
