Thanks for taking the time to read and respond to this message.

We have recently acquired two AP-387-US Point-to-Point wireless bridges as a temporary network extension solution until our underground bore can be completed in a few weeks. Yes, I realize that they are end of life'd, but they should be sufficient for our needs. We are trying to set this up outside of AirWave to extend existing building network to a new building until the hard line is installed. We do not currently have ArubaCentral.

Online/Paper installation manual is just for physical mounting setup, and the ArubaOS 8.x documents assume we already have the device online and configured.

I've unboxed the devices and connected them to a PoE switch just to provide power. PoE switch is not connected to any network, so the "setmeup" URL or other online options are not available. We powered on the device and waited 5 minutes to completely boot up.

Connected via provided USB cable from Windows laptop to AP. Device manager shows only COM6 active with SIL COM Port driver.

Putty.exe settings of: COM6, 115200 Baud,8 bit word,1 parity bit, XOR none, none - Serial Terminal -> Blackscreen with solid cursor. 3x Enter key doesn't seem to do anything. I've never had this issue with any of our other Aruba devices.

Since our vendor instructions were to use the USB to set up, there isn't an IP address for SSH to connect to.

Does anyone know of or links to documents for the specific steps to do initial configuration via USB?

    Thanks!

Try 9600 baud speed for the AP serial port. The 3x enter is something from the AOS-S Switches, where they automatically sense the configured speed. APs, Gateways, use 9600 baud fixed. Note that for the outdoor APs, a standard USB cable is needed, but as the port shows up in your computer that's working fine.
