I am brand new to using Aruba products and I just bought an AP-515 access point from Amazon to setup on my home office network. I have plugged the device into a PoE injector and the power light is on. I have tried unsuccessfully to find the IP address using a Windows laptop and IP scanner software. Can anyone help me?

An AP-515 out-of-the-box will connect to the network by get an IP by a sending a DHCP request.

    • Check you network is providing DHCP
    • Check if the AP mac-address is visible in the (managed) switch mac-table
    • Check if your DHCP server receive the DHCP request

Otherwise perform a factory reset by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds. (first press and hold the reset button, then power on, then release the button after 10sec.).

Ensure your switch or PoE injector support at least PoE (IEEE802.3af) or PoE+ (IEEE802.3at) or try a 12v 1,5A power adapter.

Try a CLI console cable to see the boot process.

Be sure your buy a AP with the right country-code depending on your region.

    Hello,
Do you know if the AP is in Instant mode (IAP) or campus mode (CAP). It would be good if it was in Instant mode to be able to manage it without a controller.
When you do the factory reset, see if you can connect to the IAP IP either by locating it with the ip scanner, or if you can't reach the IP, you can connect to the SSID that the AP Setmeup will be broadcasting, and from there you can access the IAP page. Hopefully it is in Instant mode and you can access it, otherwise you would have to convert it from CAP to IAP.
Let us know how it evolves.
    Best regards

when you buy a used Aruba AP, it is always good to factory reset it.

    Hello,
    it depends.

Are you connected to the WiFi "SetMeUp" or how are you trying to find the IP address of the AP ?

    Greetings
