  • 1.  AP 515 VLAN - SSID

    Hi,

    I am configuring a wireless network and want to configure an SSID per VLAN ie.

    VLAN 10    SSID-10
    VLAN 20    SSID-20
    VLAN 30    SSID-30

    and so on...

    I have configured this (via ArubaCentral) under WLAN and pushed to AP
    The switchport ( on a Brocade 7250 ) has been configured as tagged for vlan 10,20&30
    A DHCP scope has been configured for each of the vlans

    The issue I am having is that the AP is not getting an IP address (management ?) so cannot be seen by ArubaCentral?
    I understand that the AP needs to get an IP address, and I think that is via vlan 1? This is where I am getting confused on how to achieve this.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    The AP will get an IP from whatever VLAN is untagged on the port.

    so for a quick test, ensure you have a DHCP service enabled for the native VLAN that the AP is connected to and that should provide the IP address to the IAPs.

    Thanks, I needed to add dual-mode command to ports on Brocade switch to allow default(native) vlan1 for management.

    HI Dave,
    in normal circumstances you would connect the AP straight out of the box onto your network and the AP would pick up it's IP address via DHCP from the Native or untagged VLAN on the switch port.
    Remember that you need to reserve an IP address for the VC IP itself .

    If it's not possible to have your network configured this way, with the aid of a physical console connection you can - for EVERY IAP - either:-
    Set up the IP info per AP statically.
    OR
    Set the managennet VLAN to be one of the tagged VLANs on the trunk port of your switch.
