    Hello,

We're looking at the AP-615 on our dev system. I understand it has two radios and those radios can be configured to operate on a mix of 2.4/5/6GHz (though I haven't tried it yet).

The question I have is about the "automatic" setting that is available. In the docs it says:

"When you select Automatic option from the Flex Dual Band Mode drop-down list, the default values of 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz are assigned to radio 0 and radio 1 operating bands respectively during initial boot up of the AP on the managed device. However, the radio 0 and radio 1 values may change to either 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or 6 GHz when AirMatch dynamically assigns the operating bands."

But I'm not quite sure what that actually means in practice - how is AirMatch choosing which bands to dynamically assign, on what basis?

    Thank you,

    Guy

AirMatch will prioritize 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz coverage (in that order). In a deployment with multiple AP-615s, when AM find that there's sufficient coverage in higher priority bands it will configure the AP to provide coverage in the lower priority ones, so APs will get flipped to other modes from their default 2.4GHz + 5GHz mode.

Thanks for this explanation Onno - can the priority of the bands be changed? (I don't think we would want to but out of interest...)

AFAIK that's a fixed order baked into AirMatch.

    Hi, there
    There is one factor missed,
IF, you want to provide full coverage for your end users, meaning all bands (2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz).
You must have at least two, maybe three AP-615, which price out, one AP-635 !
And , unless you select Automatic, need to deal with two AP Profiles..
