  • 1.  AP does not honor ARM settings when in Instant Mesh?

Hi, we have an IAP-305 acting as the virtual controller and an AP-303H in Instant mode. The ARM settings on the APs are configured to have a max transmit power of 18 dBm, set for both overall max and 5ghz max. However, when the AP-303H connects as an Instant mesh point, the 5ghz radio goes into "Maintain" mode and is locked at a constant dBm higher than 18, presumably the power it decided on upon startup & connecting to the mesh portal. I haven't been able to figure out a way to make the AP-303H honor the ARM power settings when operating as an Instant mesh point. Is this possible? Any help or pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The mesh link will be set up on the 5ghz radio, and it will adjust power to reach an appropriate RSSI with another mesh AP. If you decide to go manual you will need to adjust the AP's power until the mesh link RSSI is at least 35 but under 50.

Oh! I see... Ok, just making sure I have it right: This means we have to turn off ARM for the 5ghz radio on the mesh point AP and specify everything manually (power, channel, etc.), correct?

Yes, if you disable ARM you will have to set those manually. Are you experiencing issues with the radio power it is setting? It’s best to keep ARM enabled due to its dynamic nature in keeping the RF as healthy as possible.

No issues per se, I just thought we had done something wrong. The change in ARM behavior upon becoming a mesh point was unexpected/confusing, as there wasn't anything about it in the user guide. Thanks for the clarification!
