    Hello,

Any idea why new AP743 or 735's does not sign them self in to Central but AP635 does? Licenses and assignments are okay (see below one devices data from GreenLake), I can see device getting proper ip addresses, I can sign in to ap witch default password (meaning factory default serial number pwd..) and network and name resolution works fine.

I have now tested with one 735, two 734's and one 635 and only one is working at the moment is 635.

The 'show activate' output isn't particularly useful.

    AP-735# show ap debug cloud-connectivity

    AP-735# show ap debug cloud-server

Also take a look at the log for anything interesting.  If you aren't finding anything pointing at the issue, then I'd recommend contacting TAC.

    Hello,

    Thank you for this one!
I'm not that familiar to AOS10 cli but supposed that I can find find something similar cli than cx's "show aruba-central".

I will debug this further today.

    Hello Hans,

Initial out-of-the-box fw is now 10.7.0.0 and target will be enforced to 10.7.1.1.

We are having the same problem today with 735s. We've been rolling out to various sites over the past month, no issues. Same steps completed today and the APs never show up in Central. Same output as you for activate status.

show ap debug cloud-connectivity results in no errors.
show ap debug cloud-server shows that the ap is running in local-mgmt mode.

I have a case opened with TAC, will share if I have any update from them.

    Hello,

Did you managed to get tech-support logs out from ap?
TAC asked me to send those but 734 reboot itself after about 10-15KB's of log data (without running sh tech-support, ap seems to stay on...)
Another observation is that "sh log debug" seems to contain Bad Requests :
    "Aug  7 07:25:57   awc[9895]: [activate] Message over SSL from device.arubanetworks.com, SSL_read() returned 317, errstr=Success, Message is "HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request^M Date: Thu, 07 Aug 2025 07:25:56 GMT^M Content-Type: text/plain^M Content-Length: 36^M Connection: close^M X-Type: provision-update^M X-Session-Id: 3517757183650451902^M X-Status-Code: authenticated^M Strict-Transport-Security: max-age=3600; includeSubDomains^M ^M X-Status-Code: fail-fw-key-not-found", AWC response: (null)

We managed to get ours online with a workaround of upgrading the firmware via CLI to 10.7.1 but I've asked for the case to be escalated as its not a fix and was working absolutely fine until yesterday. We also saw the SSL error - and the APs were running in "upgrade only" mode but not doing this automatically even though all connectivity checks show that is connected to Central.

    In case you need it whilst we wait for a fix/more info from TAC, here is the upgrade firmware command we've used;

    upgrade-image http://common.cloud.hpe.com/ccssvc/ccs-system-firmware-registry/IAP/ArubaOS_Aquila_10.7.1.1_92045

    SUPER! Great stuff!!

After fw upgrade 734 started to work how it shoud work.

This saved my calendar for sure! If you never ever going to travel to Helsinki region in Finland I owe you a beer :)

I will inform my TAC about this one and do some more manual updates.

This is exactly what is happening to my brand new 735 out of the box.
Speaking to my SE, there's an engineering ticket looking at this issue.

Will try the manual upgrade and try again.

Would you be willing to send your Case # to me via private message (I'd like to reference it to TAC). We are having the exact same problem with the AP-605s (AP stuck upgrade mode, the fw key error, etc). Except we're not making use of Aruba Central yet, but the problem is that the the AP-605Hs are not getting the provisioning rule when they check-in at device.arubanetworks.com (HPE Activate) - don't even see their status from the HPE Greenlake portal like our other APs (AP-635, AP675, etc).

However, i performed the upgrade image workaround to the lastest i could find for the AP-605H (it was running 8.12.0.0 and i found 8.12.0.2) on the ASP portal

    upgrade-image http://common.cloud.hpe.com/ccssvc/ccs-system-firmware-registry/IAP/ArubaInstant_Leo_8.12.0.2_90468

it rebooted, and this time it successfully obtained the provisioning rule in order to convert it into a RAP. I've seen this on 3 of our AP-605Hs.

We have the same issue this week when we started working with recently purchased 735. We are also located in EU data centers.

    Same software version 10.7.0.0

show activate status shows same incomplete info.

    show ap debug cloud-server

    IAP mgmt mode              :local-mgmt
    cloud config recved        :FALSE
    state diff                 :disable
    Device Cert status         :SUCCESS
    Cert Verify                :enable
    Domain Name Verify         :enable
    CoP Mode Enabled           :FALSE
    Primary CoP Server         :None
    Backup CoP Server          :None

show log provision shows issues like "Activate                Failed       Provisioning failed: received an empty response from Activate server, aborting provisioning"

show log ap-debug | include awc or show log ap-debug gives http errors like this from device.arubanetworks.com.

    "Message is "HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request^M"

    "X-Status-Code: fail-fw-key-not-found"

Its seems like the ap get stucks talking with Aruba Activate at device.arubanetworks.com and don't get redirected to the correct datacenter.

I checked our firewall logs and compaired a 735 to another working ap model like 505 or 615.

You can manually use the debug-cloud-server device-eucentral2.central.arubanetworks.com cmd to point it to the correct datacenter, you need to use the url from whatever Central you are at. This will make in go online in central.

But only works untill you reboot the ap then you are back to the original problem.

After reading this thread we tryed to manually update the software to 10.7.1.1 and that fixed the issue.

I haven't created a TAC-case, but will probably do, its kinda bad that HPE/Aruba ships new APs with broken code.

    Hello Christoffer,

Yeah that definitely sounds like broken device credentials database which only applies to 730-devices (wonder whats up with 720/740/750's?!?) which breaks redirection... I assume that if it would be "global" redirection issue then also 630 series would be suffering about this.

Anyway it would be great to get information when issue is fixed.

Yeah something is definitely broken. In the 10.7.0.0 code or in Activate/Central.

I have created a TAC-case now aswell. Let's see what that gives

    Good to hear!

I don't think it's in 10.7.0.0 because I have deployed almost 100pcs of 730-series devices within last two months without any problems and problems started couple of days ago.

Issue definitely isn't with the software on the AP, either something wasn't done administratively or something is broken in the cloud.

Please, if you are having an issue with onboarding an AP to Central, open a case with TAC and escalate if not getting a response in a reasonable time period.

I can confirm that new 7xx series access points are now checking into Aruba Central.  I have been experiencing the same issues as others since yesterday with a brand new AP-725 and AP-735 not checking into Central.  I called Aruba support this morning to open a TAC case and while I was waiting for a call back, the access points checked into Aruba Active and Central around 12:00pm Pacific time and both APs have automatically upgraded their firmware to version 10.7.2.0.  I can also confirm the AP-735 was originally running 10.7.0.0 when I consoled into the AP while troubleshooting yesterday.
