    Hello,

Another problem with 734's with external antennas: 6GHz radios will not come up no matter what I try to do (made sure that there is ssid attached, minimum of at-poe with usb off, inserted proper antenna gains to external antennas...) "show ap bss-table" does not show any 6GHz entries there in ap's bss-table

All external antennas are tri-band antennas, AP's are running on 10.7.1.1_92045 fw and with same radio profile AP735's internal antennas turns both 5 & 6G radios on and I can see 6G entry there in bss-table.

    Any ideas?

That's expected in most parts of the world. Many countries don't allow external antenna for 6 GHz. https://community.arubanetworks.com/discussion/ap-634-external-antennas-will-not-work

    Country code: FI (?)
Just in case I checked that I have selected installation type indoor..

    Jori,

My understanding with 6GHz is that with external antennas, you need a GPS signal. I'm not sure if this has changed because these are indoor APs. Just something to check on.

    Thanks,

    Brad

That would be quite hard to get gps signal in indoors so can that be true?

    Hi Jori,

Please provide or DM me the SN for the AP you're having issues getting 6 GHz up.

...Serial number to solve problem... Is there differences between manufacturing patches??

I have PHTLMxxxx and couple of CNTLMxxxxx devices.

The request for the SN was to check the backend and see if there was a reason why the specific device isn't getting 6 GHz enabled. I would need the exact SN and not a partial.

    Hi Jori,

I'm guessing you're in Finland (country code FI). Given the regulatory rules that apply there (ETSI), a connectorized AP will not be able to turn on the 6GHz radio, regardless of indoor/outdoor deployment and config, and regardless of whether or not a GPS signal can be captured (which can actually happen indoor, but that will only help with 6GHz operation in countries like the US). In Europe this is simply not allowed, and there's no clear timeline when that will change (and what the conditions/rules will be). It's unfortunate that the Aruba sales team did not inform you about this.

Please take a look at the attached document.

Okay then this makes sense and no real issues exists in hw nor configuration and project I'm currently working on does not require 6G at all (and 95% of ap's are 735's)

BTW it is Really hard to find such information from public documents... I knew there is restrictions about TX power and so on with external antennas while use them in outdoors but I did not knew that indoor use is "no-go" restricted :O

I agree with you on the fact that this info is not broadly available and/or easily accessible. Note that there are subtle variations by product, band and country, and this info is quite dynamic. All that makes it difficult to effectively communicate the status accurately, so we always recommend to check with your HPE Aruba Networking representatives to confirm the latest.

Note that the current restrictions for 6GHz operation apply to both connectorized and all outdoor/weatherized access points. The only access points that can currently enable 6GHz in Europe are those that are deployed and configured for indoor AND support integrated antennas. This means that APs with antenna connectors cannot use 6GHz (regardless of indoor/outdoor) and the same applies to APs deployed outdoors (even if it's an indoor AP in an enclosure). However, outdoor APs with integrated antennas can enable 6GHz if they're deployed and configured for indoor operation (that exception applies only in countries following ETSI rules).
