  • 1.  AP's Show Offline in Central After Switch Firmware Upgrade

    Posted Jul 28, 2025 07:57 AM

BUT ALL OF THE AP's ARE ACTUALLY WORKING!

Yesterday morning I upgraded the firmware on my CX-6200F switches (one MDF stack of four and two IDF's).  Went to 10.13.1110.  After all was completed the switches look good in Central but all of the AP's connected to one of the IDF's show as offline.  I was doing this remotely (Sunday morning).  I was on with support for hours and they did not get it fixed.  The best they could determine was a DHCP issue.  When I got here this morning all clients are working on the wireless so the only issue seems to be Central is not updating that the AP's are actually online.

I had a call scheduled for 6 AM this morning and I still have not heard from them.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Bill

Are you still able to access the AP via SSH? The command "show ap debug cloud-connectivity" on the APs helps to identity why the device is offline in Central.

Of course, the APs should have an IP before their able to access Central. With this information it's not possible to say what the issue is. You can use the command "show lldp neighbor-info <interface>" on the switch to see if the AP has and IP.

Well I wish I knew more about using the CLI commands in Central (maybe I can find a tutorial to get me started), so I have not run those commands.

I did find that rebooting the AP manually does fix the issue.

Also, still have not heard anything today from Aruba Support.

    I appreciate your  response.

you can reboot the AP and also get a remote console and run various commands from Aruba Central.

So are you saying I can reboot an offline AP from Central when I am off-site?

Not directly. When the AP is getting power via PoE you can remove the PoE from the interface to reboot the AP.
