  • 1.  Aruba 6100 IPTV gets stuck and pixelated

    Posted Dec 25, 2023 03:02 PM

    Hello Team,

We have issues with our iptv.

    IPTV implementation:

    1. Streamer cards connects directly to Aruba 6100 switch, it has igmp snooping enable on IPTV VLAN 10, it also has igmp enabled on VLAN interface as well with an ip address and set the switch as querier.
    2. This Aruba 6100 is connected with fiber cable to our Core switch, from core to other edge switches and from edge to TVs
    3. On all other edge switches and core switch I've igmp enable on iptv VLAN only.

This setup was working without any issues for past 1 year and all of sudden day before yesterday the TVs were started getting stuck and pixelated.

    Troubleshooting steps taken:

    1. Rebooted the streamer cards, didn't fix
    2. Rebooted Aruba 6100 switch, didn't fix
    3. Rebooted the core switch, didn't help
    4. Updated Aruba 6100 firmware to the latest version 10.13, didn't fix,
    5. Enabled fast leaving on all interfaces on Aruba 6100 switch which the streamer cards are directly connected to, didn't fix
    6. Changed all the interfaces on Aruba 6100 to 100 full duplex, didn't fix,
    7. Aruba 6100 has igmp v3 as default which was working for past 1  year without any issues, and as this issue arise i tried changing igmp version to v2 because all other edge switches were old and supported only v2z didn't fix at all,
    8. Played channels from VLC and monitored network send and receive, receive is about 5-10 Mbps which is normal, also there's seems to be no flooding as the receive is consistently between 5-10Mbps, and as average 8Mbps,

Can anyone assist me to resolve this please, suggest me what else i can do to fix this issue. Your guidance and solutions to this will be much appreciated.

Hi, the stuck picture and pixelation means that the transmitter/receiver is not receiving the signal. The very first thing I would check is that jumbo frames is enabled along the entire path.

Almost all the AV kit I deal with requires this and I get that same issue if I disable jumbo.

    Ian.

    Hi @IanNightingale

    I have found the problem.

Problem: We created a  new VLAN in our network for a dedicated Wi-Fi connection. The problem was that the trunk coming from our core switch to IPTV switch we had tagged the new VLAN which is not needed and we are having a UDM (Unifi Dream Machine) for managing Wi-Fi, in the UDM we had this new SSID created along with the  New VLAN assigned to it, also we have multicast enabled in that SSID, and when the users were streaming from other application which uses multicast the traffics seems to passing through the IPTV switch and the issue arises.

Solution: So we disabled the multicast option from SSID and removed the tag from the core switch which connects to IPTV switch. After that the problem seems to be fixed, no more stuck and pixelating.

Another Problem: But there seems to be another issue, while switching between channels we get a delay of 3 to 5 seconds which we do not know why, before there were only about 2 to 3 seconds delay, most of the time 2 seconds to load the channel. Do you have any idea for this? We have not found a solution for this yet.
