    Hello,
    I bought a used Aruba AP105 from Ebay.
    It should be used at home and not in an enterprise environment, because the AP is significantly better than a standard home router.
    You can´t get a web interface of the "new" device and i can´t ping the AP either.
    an IP is obtained from DHCP
    I connected myself over seriall and I noticed that the device is in a boot loop.
    Canceled that and IPs entered manually. A ping from AP to another device works.

    apboot> printenv
    bootdelay=2
    baudrate=9600
    autoload=n
    boardname=Talisker
    servername=aruba-master
    bootcmd=boot ap
    bootfile=mips32.ari
    ethaddr=9c:1c:12:ca:8f:c7
    stdin=serial
    stdout=serial
    stderr=serial
    ethact=eth0
    autostart=yes
    serverip=tfpt

    apboot> version

    APBoot 1.4.0.3 (build 37726)
    Built: 2013-03-21 at 20:13:41

    The OS update will not work.

    I've tested the release of another tftp client.
    that basically works.
    The image file was renamed because name is too long.

    Is this an AP105 or an IAP105? The sticker on the back will tell you...

    The AP105 does not have a web interface and would need to be configured via a controller. An IAP105 does have a web interface for configuration and does not require a controller.

    You also cannot convert an AP105 to an IAP105.

    **bleep**, so I bought the wrong one, or get additionally
    an IAP and cover the house even better with wifi.

    Thank you for your answer

    Hello, I have to contact you again.

    I have now bought an IAP-105 and this works as expected. Is it possible to operate the AP105 together with the IAP105 as master?

    And if so how?

    I constantly see DNS requests from the AP on Aruba Master. So I've made an entry on my Pihole so that the AP finds the IP of the IAP. There I have the option: Preferred master activated.

    You can only have an IAP105 working with an AP105 if you convert the IAP105 to an AP105 and terminate these on a controller.

    "terminate these on a controller"

    And who is the controller?

    AP105 would require an additional physical or virtual Aruba controller. An Aruba Instant AP (IAP) would use the "built in" Virtual Controller.

    support.arubanetworks.com is where you will find the VM images. You will need a valid support contract to access the site. Documentation is freely available however.
