Hi,
if your P2P-mesh AP's are just serving the mesh and no clients in parallel - it might be a good idea to use static-IP (though Aruba does not recommend to do so) for management and set up portal and point as standalone AP, and then let those devices join Central (and put each AP in a separate group, though of course the config between point and portal will not differ much).
I am running AP-387 that way without any issues....
With such setup, the point-AP will not loose it's management IP, in case of issues with DHCP; best to have point and portal AP-mgmt-IP in same subnet - so you can ping on L2 "over the air" from one to the other and verify that way the mesh is working properly without being dependend any other Service (like dhcp or L3).

The point to point works fine. Its when we attach it to Aruba Central that we cannot manage it. We can only manage it via the SSID we create. When we attach the point to point APs to Central they come online for a few minutes then say offline. They show that the error is DNS but we know thats not the case as the APs will attach and show up in Central for a few minutes.

It's hard to tell something useful without the exact errors and additional troubleshooting. If the TAC engineer that was assigned is not able to make your mesh working, ask for another engineer and/or escalation of the case.

Subject: Aruba Central Point to Point
Hello
Looking for some assistance or answer as to why my Point to Point connection will not stay online in Aruba Central. I opened a ticket with tech support but we did not manage to get it working. Here's the scenario.
I have two buildings that need network connection. Building 1 has the DMARC with the core switch and Building 2 needs a link to Building 1. I am using Aruba 567's for the P2P connection. I have followed the below two videos to get the P2P connection up and running. The second video setting up the P2P via Aruba Central using AOS8 has not been successful so Ive reverted back to the first video only using the APs.
What happened with the Central setup is I can get everything setup in Central as long as both APs are on the Bldg 1 LAN switch. Central can see the APs and everything is fine until I move the Point AP over to the Bldg 2 switch thats not on the Bldg 1 network and change the Eth0 as downlink on the Point AP. The Bldg 2 switch has the same network configs as Bldg 1 but with a different SVI IP to avoid IP dup. Once I make this connection the P2P come back up, but Central then begins to report that there is a DNS issue. This is odd as the APs are up and running, both buildings and connected to each other via the P2P connection. So im not sure why Central reports this DNS error as nothing has changed besides me moving the Point AP to the remote building and changing the Eth0 on the Point AP to downlink.
