Controllerless Networks

Our Aruba Controller 7010 is running on firmware 8.4.0.2 and provisioning AP303's. We want to provision AP505 running on firmware 8.11.1.0_86591. I believe we need to upgrade the firmware of our controller.  If so, what is the upgrade path that will ensure that we will able to provision both AP303 and AP505.

You'll want to have a look at the Release Notes for all versions between 8.4 and 8.11, make sure none of the changes in behavior will have an impact on you.  Then take a look at the upgrade procedure for 8.11.2 (8.11.1 is no longer supported as the 8.11.2 SSR has superseded the previous SSR releases) and make sure you follow the requirements.

There isn't a specific required upgrade path as there is for other products.  Make sure to get a configuration backup and flashbackup of the controller prior to any upgrade.
