    Hello,

I have a problem with the new CX switches. The IP phones do not get the correct IP address from the tagged VLAN. If then only from the native VLAN. I don't know what's missing here or what needs to be done. With all non-CX switches everything works normally (e.g. 2540). If I manually enter the VLANS on the phone, everything works.

VLAN 1 = Native PC Data

    VLAN 2 = Voice VLAN

    vlan 2

    name Voice-Phone

    voice

    interface 1/1/9

        no shutdown
        vlan trunk native 1
        vlan trunk allowed 1,2

The Phone + PC will get an IP from the native VLAN.

Have you enabled LLDP and LLDP-MED?

Does you phone support LLDP-MED to get the voice VLAN?

Yes LLDP and LLDP-Med ist enabled - i see the Phone with lldp neighbor Info.

We use the Phones on many other HPE Aruba Switchs (2930, 2540, 5400).

    UPDATE:

When i restart the Phone, it gets for some seconds (30s) the wrong VLAN-ID

-> Neighbor Med Policy VLAN ID    : 1

After the 30s the phone then shows

-> Neighbor Med Policy VLAN ID    : 2

But thats to late, because the phone got allready an ip-adress from vlan 1

So seems some sort of timing problem?

Could be... you may run a packet capture / port mirror on both types of switches to see what is the difference. Or work with Aruba TAC support to do further troubleshooting.

    Hi all,

was involved into Troubleshooting and I suggested to Update Firmware to 10.11.x or 10.12.x to see if there is a difference.
Additionally the Packet Capture is suggested also as Herman mentioned.

We made a setup in parallel with HP Voice Phones 4120 with 6100 on 10.11.1021 & 10.12.0006 and it worked as expected. Captures are available for comparision.

So i tested the new firmware 10.12.xxxx but no change.

What i noticed now - when i change the lldp timer to 60 seconds on the phone (default 30) it works.

So seems the switch takes somewhere to much time.

Could it be that you have spanning tree enabled on that access port, and may be keeping the port blocked for 30 seconds resulting in the phone timing out?

Yes Spanning-Tree ist enabled on the Switch.

We tried allready changing the port from admin-network to admin-edge, no change.

Have you done a port-mirror already and check the traffic from/to the phone? If you compare that between a working and non-working switch port, it may become clear what the difference is and from there how to resolve it.

Did you find a resolution as I am seeing this with a 6100 cx switch as well.
