  • 1.  Aruba Instant Ap Controller Reset Password

    Posted Oct 13, 2020 06:10 AM

I inherited the management of several aruba instant ap.

I read this guide carefully https://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Controller-less-WLANs/How-do-I-reset-the-admin-password-on-Aruba-Instant/ta-p/179620

I am connected to the current console via https and via ssh but that method of logging in is not working.

Maybe the firmware has been updated.

How can I recover the admin password?

Do I have to reset every single access point manually?

Is there something written on the device that I can use as password?

    Kindest regards.

That method needs to be performed at the console, not over telnet/ssh or HTTP/HTTPS. There would be major security issues if you could do that without being physically at the AP

Only other option is too wipe it from the console as well, or by booting up the AP while holding down the reset button. But make sure you also don't have it on the same L3 network as another AP, as it will may try to join the cluster.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the kind answer.

That's exactly my problem, the person that managed all the ap left, with the password. And using personnel from maintenance in place, I will need to take control again.

So the suggested procedure is to reset every ap? Or there is another way?

    Kindest regards.

How are the IAPs managed? Just form the VC in the cluster, Airwave, or Aruba Central?

    How many IAP clusters?

Hello, as far as I know, they are managed from the Virtual Controller in the cluster.

And there is only one ap cluster with 70 ap.

AFAIK, unless the APs are being managed by Airwave or Central, you do not have a way to recover or add an  admin account  or in this scenario.  The recovery method with the console  that you linked was disabled as of Aruba Instant 4.1.0.0 so it will not work.  You would have to start from scratch.

Another option is to open a technical support case at asp.arubanetworks.com and see if there is something that you overlooked that might be possible.
