  • 1.  Aruba/HP 2530 PoE+ Switch SNMP

    Hi,

We have a lot of Aruba/HP 2530 PoE+ switches, what we are starting to find is that we get POE failure, weather is the whole switch or just a bank.

Does someone know perhaps if I can setup an SNMP server to alert me that there is a POE failure to pre-emtively get the switch swopped out.

It sound lik an easy task logging into the switch and just having a look but we have a number of switches to monitor.

    Hello,

Can you share running software version, device product number :'JXXXXX' and show outputs for POE?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Here is the ourput for the version and sofware we are currently running.

; J9778A Configuration Editor; Created on release #YA.16.03.0004
    ; Ver #10:08.02.43.18.82.34.61.18.28.f3.84.9c.63.ff.37.27:c1

Can you perhaps advise what output of the POE you would like to see?

    Hello,

Please share output of below command:

    #show power-over-ethernet brief

Have you tried to reboot the switch?

I believe you can see fault or flaps of interfaces as notification into monitoring tool.

Are you using any monitoring tool?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I think that there is no option on the switch itself to alert you in case of any failure (CLI/WEB interface only). Do you already have some SNMP monitoring tool in your network?

    IMC: https://www.hpe.com/us/en/networking/management.html

    Aruba Central: https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/AOS10_2_OLH/Content/alerts/switch-alerts.htm

    https://www.arubanetworks.com/products/network-management-operations/central/

You can monitor and manage your network with the above mentioned HPE solutions. Both are paid.

There are some free monitoring programs on the internet. You can search and find what will be suitable for you.
