    Problem Description

We are experiencing intermittent connectivity issues on our wireless network managed by an Aruba 9004 Gateway running ArubaOS 10.4.

Users report that applications such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom experience the following symptoms:

    • Audio and video freezes intermittently.
    • Temporary disconnections during meetings.
    • Delays reconnecting to conference sessions.
    • General application instability while connected to the wireless network.

The issue is intermittent and affects multiple users.

    Environment

    • Aruba 9004 Gateway
    • ArubaOS Version: 10.4
    • Aruba AP-635 Access Points
    • ClearPass Policy Manager for 802.1X authentication
    • Multiple SSIDs (Corporate, Guest, etc.)

    Configuration Verification

We have reviewed the current configuration and observed the following:

    • RADIUS servers are configured correctly.
    • Four ClearPass servers are configured.
    • RADIUS communication uses ports 1812/1813.
    • APs are broadcasting all expected SSIDs.
    • Allowed RF channels appear normal for the configured regulatory domain.
    • No obvious configuration inconsistencies were identified in the running configuration.

    Impact

The issue primarily affects real-time collaboration applications including:

    • Microsoft Teams
    • Zoom

These applications are sensitive to latency, packet loss, and roaming interruptions.

    Troubleshooting Performed

    • Verified AP BSS table.
    • Verified allowed RF channels.
    • Reviewed RADIUS server configuration.
    • Verified running configuration.
    • Confirmed ArubaOS version.
    • No obvious RADIUS configuration issues were identified.

    Request

Please assist in reviewing the following:

    1. Wireless roaming behavior.
    2. RF optimization and channel utilization.
    3. Client roaming events.
    4. Packet loss or retransmissions.
    5. Authentication delays between the Gateway and ClearPass.
    6. Known issues affecting ArubaOS 10.4 and AP-635 with Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
    7. Any recommended software updates or hotfixes.

    Hi JJ,

Is there a common theme in the OS of the devices expiriencing these issues?

I mention that as although running on different AOS version (we're on AOS8) and AP models this sounds vaguely similar to an issue we have and are actively engaged with Aruba TAC about. In our case, the issues seemed limited to Apple MacBooks and users reported issues with freezing and stuttering on real-time collaboration applications (Teams, Zoom, Google Meet).

After troubleshooting for months we found that the issue was being caused by AMSDU not working properly. The active workaround we have in place is lowering the SAP MTU to 1500 or disabling jumbo frames on the AP management VLAN (localised workaround).

Not quite sure the symptoms are exactly the same as we expirienced but figured I'd mention this on the off-chance it may be of any help.
