  • 1.  Auto Proxy URL - Iphone / ipad using DCHP option 252

    Has anyone managed to have the auto proxy config work using an apple device, I am using a captive portal running DHCP with option 252 for proxy pac file location.

     

    PC's are fine straight in using DNS for wpad.domain.com

    The Option 252 does not work with both MSFT and MAC OSX or ipad/iphone clients unless you make some changes:  http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=991781

    If as all possible I'd recommend looking into setting up your proxy server as a transparent proxy. You can then just destination Nat http and https traffic to it from the role which these devices are in. With this in place it doesn't matter what type of device is connecting it'll still get proxied and the beauty is no settings need to be altered on any device to do this. That's just my 2 pence.     Thanks for the pointers looks like next step is a gre tunnel to the cloud proxy that we use
