    Hello,

Yes, by doing a running show as Michael says, you will have the configuration. Then if you have the CX switches running with template group, you can create backups and manage them from the configuration audit tab.

    Best Regards

Also we can use Central Automation Studio (CAS). Once you have API connectivity to your Aruba central account, you can go to switch Troubleshooting and download it from there.

    Hello,

All suggested ways to get config files shows how to get single config file but have you found way to backup multiple config files at once?

    Hey Jori,

if you are not using template groups you are on your own.

You can configure scheduler jobs which copy the configs with your desired protocol (like scp, tftp, ...)  to a server. Also, if you do configuration modifications by MultiEdit Central has no glue about the configuration of a switch if it dies.

    Hello Uli,

Now I don't understand what do you mean by "Central has no glue about configuration..." comment?!?

If I do configuration changes via MultiEdit while switch is offline, Central will save my edits to Central (and normally loads configuration to switch when it comes online... Just tested this in last Tuesday)
If I do changes in Central via WebUI or MultiEdit to online devices and device dies, I can still get last startup-configuration by selecting offline device and open it's MultiEdit (just tested this few minutes ago...)
If I do changes into configuration by using switches CLI with support mode and save configurations, changes will popup into Central after a while.

With that said I would say that Central IS aware about configurations done by other than template approach and I would very much appreciate the possibility to download device configurations from device/group/global level.

    Hello Jori,

you are right, you can recover switch configs manually in MultiEdit for each single device even after it is gone. And this is great if you have only less then 20 of them ...

So, I agree with you it would be great to have other possibilities to gather or backup configurations of switches! By the way, the opportunity to locally alter configuration and having this change finding its way back to Central was deactivated a time ago after an upgrade to a newer release of Central. Fortunately, this was pulled after heavy complaints as AOS-S Switches have no MultiEdit at all.

As everything changes regarding configuration with New Central very soon I think we should focus on how to migrate existing Central environments to the new way of configuration. With that policy based approach it is kind of a template feeling with UI and everything is done in Central (as I explored it until now).
