  • 1.  Boot devices from certain image...

    Posted 13 days ago

    Hello,

Just uploaded new LTS firmware to switches through Classic Central to wait next service date. This client has bit slow wan capacity so I thought that I will do transfer in quiet date and in smaller patches so that wan stays usable for others too.

Now when I need to deploy new firmware I cannot find mechanism from Central which I can use to boot system from other than previous image so:
How do I do "boot system secondary" from central?

I can do another firmaware update round but does it upload same fw another time and select reboot option but I would like to reboot switches fast without additional fw transfer and stuff...

If you uploaded the firmware but did not reboot, when you reboot it should boot in the new firmware.

    Hello Herman,

This possible issue came into my mind after I uploaded firmwares to secondary fw slot and I tested to reboot one "non-important" device from firmware device list... Unfortunately it rebooted itself from "previous running firmware" (meaning primary image)

Classic Central only sets the correct boot image if you choose to also reboot. If you only upload you have to set it on you own, meaning manual by CLI - there isn't even an API call for that. Had this request for years and the last two years they said it will be fixed with CNX ... Same with VSX software update.
