  • 1.  Cannot upgrade firmware from custom location

    Posted Apr 07, 2025 07:33 AM

    Dear Experts,

I am trying to upgrade the firmware of 6100 switch from a local webserver (HFS – HTTP File Server). I can see that switch attempts to access the file but then i get this error (Upgrade: failed: Failed to execute Firmware Upgrade CLI.).

Any idea what might be the issue, i tried with both http and https(self signed cert), same error.

I tried below link, however i think i misunderstood, custom location is applicable for only firmware that is not available on central right? i have a use case where switches will be installed in remote sites with poor internet service so during provisioning can we do local firmware upgrade for a firmware that is already available on central?

Best Practise is to upgrade the Switch before connecting it to central. The Software you can find on Aruba Support Portal - https://networkingsupport.hpe.com/downloads;fileTypes=SOFTWARE;products=Switches;productSeries=CX%206100%20Switch%20Series

I don't think you can do that if the switch is managed by Aruba central.

However you should be able to upgrade/downgrade the switch from Aruba central.
