    Hi all,

We are getting started with the deploying Aruba Central to eventually replace our current AOS8 structure. I'm starting by deploying a test AP with an open network to understand what it needs to connect to central and how we need to change our subnet and vlan structure. Documentation emphasizes that the APs have a management vlan separate from clients. Our current controller-managed APs are untagged on a data vlan on their uplink port on the switch, but it is shared with wired clients.

1- Can I still use this VLAN or does it need to be completely isolated? (To the point where the AP would show offline unless it's on an isolated vlan).

2- The instructions for AOS-10 AP-Only Configuration say to configure a vlan profile. Which vlan is it for? Is that the vlan that's going to be the native vlan in the AP uplink profile?

3- Do I need to enable L3? What is the use case for enabling it?

    Thank you!

Here is the info on AOS10 migration for controller based or Instant based AP.

But to answer your questions, the native or untagged VLAN will be the mgmt VLAN for the AOS10 APs.  That native VLAN is where the APs can get their DHCP IP addr and reach out to Central  where they will be upgraded (as configured) and get their configurations,

Now assuming you are asking about New Central configuration, you can refer to this New Central Configuration for AOS10 Access Points – Bridge Mode technote

Thank you for your response and the documentation!

I got the AP to come back online but I still can't get it to broadcast the WLAN, the radio LED is blinking instead of going solid. It's an open network so it's configured to be as simple as possible. Where should I start troubleshooting?

    Thank you!

Never mind my last message, I have it up and running now. Since I'm new to central I was thrown off by a couple of things that I'm not used to seeing so I thought there was an issue. The AP radio LED blinks green and doesn't go solid like it did with MC, and for some reason my laptop couldn't see the SSID but when I eventually checked my phone I was able to see it, connect to it and browse the internet!

Thanks for the help, I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go. Glad to have this community!
