  • 1.  Choosing the correct physical mobility controller

    Posted Nov 11, 2025 05:43 AM

We recently did a proof of concept with a virtual mobility controller (ArubaOS_VMC_8.13.0.1_93317) and two APs (AP-615-RW, AP 635).  This worked well enough but a physical appliance for the mobility controller might be better.

I am now looking for a physical mobility controller appliance (100% on prem is a hard requirment!) and I have a tough time finding solid info on hpe.com

    What we roughly want is:

1 mobility controller for a site with ~30 APs

2 mobility controllers for small sites with 5 APs

1 virtual mobility conductor in our data center

Is something like the Aruba 9004 good for us here?

    Thanks for any input!

    Hi Alexander,

Is there a reason why you didn't look into IAPs instead? Especially for small sites with 5 APs?

    Hello Bergson,

the reason is that I simply don't know what is all out there. I couldn't find much info about IAPs also. If you have anything more of that, I would gladly read it!

You go with either Instant APs AOS8 or go with AOS10 APs with Aruba Central

here you can find more info on AOS10 overview

    and here
