    Hi,

I have iap-215 access points in the school district. Recently i have had two chromebooks in the same classrom show a dhcp look failed when trying to get connected to an ssid. I've brought one back to my office and it does work. However when i big it back i get the same messge. I do not have a controller i only have the virtual controller. Any suggestions to point me in the right direction would be great. Thank you in advance

Try "show version" so that we can know if that build has an issue with it.

What is the DNS server and what is your SSID config and ACLs for your user role?

we have the ssid pushed out via google enterprise enrollment. Once we manually enter the password to one of our ssids its automatically transfers to the other ssid that we use. Our dns server is interal not to google.

Hey did you ever find a solution to this? I'm currently experiencing the same problem.

    Thanks!

    hey mike,

Its been a while since this thread lol check out the ports on the switch that the aps are connected to. Try changing it to a trunk instead of an access port try it on one of them see what happens.

    Thanks Tj,

Thank you for getting back to me after a thread that hadn't been touched in like a year and a half lol. We use HP switches, so it's either untagged or tagged and the ports support wifi subnets, so it's basically trunked. It's so weird.

Lol yea all good man. I shouldve been a little more specific i mean about trunked vlans? What do your vlans look like on the switches? We were using cisco switches so im not familiar with cli in hp switches or if they use another way of getting access to them. Just make sure the aps have access to the wireless vlan and nothing else. Like maybe the port was used for idk phones or something take that vlan off that port and just have it be for wifi.

I'll explore that deeper, thanks again man. We've got a completely new system of switches, APs, and just trying to figure it all out. It's crazy that most of the students will be able to get on and two can't in the same room on the same AP.

if they are connected to an ap next room over you may have to turn down the frequency a little bit on one of them so they dont pick up the ap next door if they keep flipping from one ap to another
