I am trying to install a Cisco 7940 IP phone on an NBX SIP unit 6.5.22.

The phone  has already been changed to a sip phone.

    my question is

when  I set up the phone it will not register. It gets Ip info from dhcp and i used the proxy server as the nbx IP address.

Does this phone need to talk to a tftp server at bootup before it will work?

    Any ideas or suggestions????

    Thanks.

One thing on the NBX side is that you have to set the password or the phone will not register.. NBX really does not have a default password, so you have to set one via the User password.. that will make the password same as the extension.

I have seen phones that will not register until this was done.

    Update

I was able to register the phone. It will accept calls.

     It will not make calls.

I get a---- "Status 488 - unsuported content disposition type"

    content disposition = session:handling = optional

How do I get rid of this??

    FYI

3com identifed the issue and they came up with a patch and now all is well!

Something is wrong when you have to install Cisco phones on a 3com.

    It's just wrong!!!!!!!

    Thank you
