  • 1.  ClearPass 6.11 system morph-vm failing (C1000V to C2000V) - IOPS or Disk Size mismatch?

    Posted Apr 29, 2026 09:18 PM

    Hi all,

I am migrating a customer from 6.9 to 6.11 via fresh server build. The customer accidentally deployed the initial VM as a C1000V, but they require C2000V capacity. I really don't want to rebuild if I can avoid it.#

I am attempting to use the system morph-vm C2000V command to upgrade the appliance, but it is failing.

    Here is the CLI output:

    #######################################

    Current Hardware Version - C1000V
    New Hardware Version - C2000V

WARN: VM will be morphed to C2000V. Once initiated
you cannot revert to the existing version C1000V.

All services will be stopped and a reboot initiated to complete
    this operation.
    Press 'y' or 'Y' to proceed: y

    Morph VM to C2000V

    Required system configuration:
    -----------------------------
    Number of CPUs = 8
    Total Memory = 16 GB
Total Disk Size = 1000 GB
Total Disk Write Throughput = 2187 IOPS
Total Disk Read Throughput = 6345 IOPS
    -----------------------------

    Current system configuration:
    ----------------------------
    Number of CPUs = 8
    Total Memory = 18 GB
Total Disk Size = 1064 GB
Total Disk Write Throughput = 2121 IOPS
Total Disk Read Throughput = 6153 IOPS
    ----------------------------

ERROR: Attach a harddrive with recommended capacity,
reboot, and attempt the operation again.

    #################################

    My questions for the community:

    1. Is the script failing and throwing the "Attach a harddrive" error strictly because the customer provisioned 1064 GB instead of exactly 1000 GB?

    2. The IOPS are slightly below the required 6.11 baseline. Even if we rebuild the VM with exactly 1000 GB and 16 GB RAM, will the strict IOPS enforcement in 6.11 still cause the morph to fail?

    Appreciate any insight

I think you need the third HDD attached for the morph to work

Thank you Ariya... Once the migration is complete - can I shutdown the VM and delete the old 1TB HDD?

I don't want the customer stuck with a disk that they are not using.
