  • 1.  ClearPass Guest translation to unsupported language

    Posted Jan 15, 2025 04:42 AM

    Hi

A customer with offices in several European countries would like to translate the guest facing captive portals to the local languages.

Swedish and German are supported but Finnish is not one of the supported languages. Possibly there are more languages

Is there a way to add a new language pack to ClearPass Guest and can I do it myself?

    Hi Jonas,

It is possible to duplicate an existing language pack as a starter to create new ones. See the documentation here: https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/ClearPass/6.12/Guest/Content/Configuration/CreateEditTranslationPack.htm#:~:text=To%20create%20or%20edit%20a,Language%20Pack%20Configuration%20form%20opens.&text=Name%20of%20the%20language%20pack%20you%20used%20as%20a%20basis.

After that, if you enable the Translation Assistant 'Show Text IDs'; you will see with each text what is the corresponding ID for the backend pages.

For the end-user facing guest pages, you would need to enable the 'Show translate links'.

When you get used to it it's quite intuitive. And it's working very well.

I did translation for my customers not just for portals but also for operators, receptionist and helpdesk forms.

Just be very careful to use the correct language codes for Clearpass to be able to recognize new language(s).

At the beginning I mess up language codes and was not able to get translated text to shown on the client.
