End user devices in general don't expose their serial number to the outside world, which is obvious as it may be used to track devices in all kinds of processes like asset management. A device on the network just exposes its MAC address and in many cases their configured hostname. Access to the device serial number may be possible if you have software running on the device, like shown above with Onboard. But even not all devices have the serial number software-accessible, it may be just on the sticker that is on the device or even on the box that the device came in.
Most tracking is done through the device MACaddress, which you may be able to map to an asset tag or device serial number if you have that stored somewhere.

The end users device? If you want to know the serial number of a Aruba-OS switch it is #show system
If you want to know for an AOS Controller it is #show inventory
What is the device type in question?
