I'm migrating 2x VM Conductors from Hyper-V to VMWare.
My plan is to:
-Take down the secondary Hyper-V Conductor and rebuild it in VMWare with the same IP address.
-Bring back up the secondary and ensure synchronisation happens correctly.
-Failover to the new secondary by changing the VRRP priority.
-Ensure config/ licensing has synchronised.
-Take down the primary and rebuild it in VMWare, bring back up.
-Ensure config/ licensing has synchronised.
-Fail back over to the primary by changing the VRRP priority.
Regarding the licensing, TAC have told me that the licensing is tied to a passphrase with VMs. What isn't being made particularly clear is if/how the licensing will synchronise correctly during a VRRP failover to the new VMWare Conductor, using the plan above. Will the licensing need to be re-added/ re-activated on the new VMWare Conductors using the associated passphrase(s) to each PEF, RF protect and capacity license? Or will there be a seamless transition and synchronisation will take care of this.
