  • 1.  Corrections/Diagrams for Switching Associate Study Guide?

    Posted Sep 22, 2025 05:19 AM

    Hi, I purchased the study guide but it has some obvious errors (such as confusing switch ports with tcp ports), and appears to be missing diagrams (stock photos of people are used to illustrate networking concepts such as types of STP).  I am assuming this isn't the usual quality standard of HPE publications and there was some error in the editing process, and thus wondering where I can find the error corrections and missing diagrams? Thanks!

    There should be information at the beginning of the document:

    Provide feedback

    HPE values your feedback to help improve our courseware. If you found any errors (spelling, grammatical, technical) or want to provide other feedback regarding the content of this guide, please send an email to aruba.training.feedback@hpe.com with details. Thanks for helping us improve our courses!

    What you describe is not what I have seen from study guides; and I know (as I have even contributed for some trainings) there is an extensive review process in place to avoid exactly this. In the past, I have also seen 'errata', with updates, but that may be back in the time where printed guides were distributed and could not be updated as easy as with electronic form.

    Could you please start by reaching out to the feedback mail address? Send me a personal message if you get stuck as all study guides should be high quality in my opinion.

    @JulesK,

    Are you talking about the HPE Press Study Guide, or the HPE Education Services Student Guide (content provided in an instructor-led course)? The latter is the content you can provide feedback using the email address provided by Herman (that email comes to me). In this case, you can send the feedback to that email if you are talking about the HPE Press Study Guide and I'll make sure it makes it to the right place.

    Thanks!

    Mike

    Hi, I appreciate the replies on this as it gives me some assurance that HPE cares about the quality of these publications.

    https://hpepress.hpe.com/product/HPE+Aruba+Networking+Certified+Associate+-+Switching+Official+Certification+Study+Guide+HPE6-A86-eBook-20190  is what I purchased. For reference, I got my first CCNA in 1999 and have been working in the industry ever since, so for my first attempt at an HPE Aruba exam all I really wanted was a decent list of topics. I am not the target market for instructor-led training, etc, and I've read a lot of these types of materials over the years and understand there might be the odd error in a multiple choice question.

    In this case I found these glaring errors which frankly appear AI generated in the first chapter, and basically abandoned this resource, that I paid money for. Writing quality content, proofreading and editing are all paid jobs. that I don't want to do for HPE for free :) So after some thought I will be dropping this matter at this point, and hope that this thread stands so anyone looking for reviews of the Study Guide might find it.
