  • 1.  CX Switches fan high

    Hey,

I'm in the process of configuring and deploying several CX switches.  Using NetEdit, I've pushed a bunch of config and I've got some basic functionality going.

Today one of the guys said that some of the switches had fans going at full speed, even though the switches are all just powered up and connected to a single uplink each.  These were all just upgraded from 10.06.0001 to 10.06.0002.
I pulled up the switches in NetEdit and while there is a 'Device - system_resource_monitor', but I couldn't find anywhere to look at the status of the fans in NE.  There were 3 or 4 switches doing this, so I wanted to take a quick look at them all at once.  Not so using NetEdit.  AirWave -  CPU spiked at ~7:30 this morning to ~32%, but otherwise is riding in the 15%max down to 7% or so.  No environment data to see.

    Now the switch GUI.
Once I connected to the GUI and logged in, I couldn't tell what switch I was on.  Where's the hostname?  I haven't configured any snmp system info yet, so as you can see in the screen shot, there's no way to know which switch I'm connected to.  Is there a way to force the hostname to show up in that giant whitespace bar at the top that tells the model?  I clicked through all the buttons on the left and not one place could I see anything that identifies the hostname of the switch in question.

Anyway - back to the issue, I checked the environment on all of the switches (a single switch, a stack of 2, and a stack of 3) and they all reported fans running SLOW and everything showed green.

Is this a known bug that I just didn't see in the release notes?
    Thanks
    PH

    Hi,

My 6300M from time to time also get very high fan speed and noise.
But it's not from the switch fans, but from the PSU fans. So, while fans are slow, the PSU fans are not.
Maybe the same applies to you.
