After not having used this feature for many years, we need to run a guest provisioning page again. We are on ArubaOS 8.12.

Fields, design, logo, and policy text for guest provisioning have been customized. For admins connected to the mobility conductor everything is working fine. A new management user frontdesk has been created and assigned with the guest-provisioning role at the controller level. This user can log on successfully but is presented with the default guest provisioning page design.

I was wondering if this could be related to the missing role guest-provisioning, which we recreated. We might have removed it some time ago when retiring the old guest provisioning. Right now, guest-provisioning has only policies with no rules assigned.

I would appreciate if you had more information regarding this topic and maybe could share which rules are required for the role guest-provisioning.

    Best regards,
    Dirk

I didn't even know the guest provisioning page could be changed, or even it still existed. Most customers have moved to a more modern guest/guest provisioning solution like ClearPass.

Maybe if you reach out to TAC Support, they may know.

Thank you for your message. I can understand that other customers utilize ClearPass and similar solutions. We require this for a very small Wi-Fi network with approximately twenty accounts. However, the accounts frequently change. Therefore, the guest provisioning page seems suitable for our needs.

We have also discovered a discrepancy in the Aruba documentation. The guest provisioning user must be created at the conductor level, contrary to what the user guide states, which is at the managed device level. After making this adjustment, everything is functioning as expected. No additional policies are needed for the guest-provisioning role.
