I have gone through the cloud auth guide that Aruba provides here: Aruba Cloud Authentication and Policy Guide. I understand how to connect cloud auth to our Entra ID tenant, build a wireless network, and configured on switches. However, I am unable to identify solutions to two major concerns.

The first is that the documentation only provides user-based authentication and MAC authentication. I would like a way to authenticate workstations that have been joined to our Entra tenant. Has anyone been able to identify a way of doing this?

The second concern is the lack of scalable deployment methods. Aruba documentation provides two possible methods (Aruba Onboard App and URL based). Neither of which can be deployed/managed at scale. Has anyone had luck deploying a cloud auth network to workstations at scale? As a reference point, we have 3000+ Windows-based devices to deploy and support.

Cloud Authentication and policy is currently not designed for large Enterprise usecases like (Intune/MDM) managed devices automatic onboarding. It works great in BYOD, IoT and smaller deployments.

You may reach out to your local HPE Aruba sales team and ask about the future of Cloud Authentication (Central NAC). Or check this Discover video or read this (under development) documentation on how with Bring your own Certificate the Intune/MDM would help in this case.

    Thanks, Herman.

I am using 'Old' Central and do not see that I have any options to deploy Central NAC. Is this option only available in New Central?

    Garet,

Correct, Central NAC is selective/early available at the moment. It's the future evolution of Authentication & NAC in Central. What you are looking for is coming, but not available yet.

you can reach out to your local Aruba Rep and they can allow list Central NAC for your Aruba Central account, that way you can get the feel for it as well as see the new flexible configuration.

This is great to hear. We rolled out entra-joined via the onboarding app. That worked well, however the clients kept losing their trust of the certificate (daily). lots of investigation by HPE & MS led to a recommendation to reinstall the RSAT (remote server admin tools). we gave up and plan to try again soon.

Has Aruba announced a timeline for this?

For legal reasons, HPE Aruba is unlikely to publicly announce timelines for future/roadmap items.

If you speak to your local HPE representative, they probably can answer your question personally.
