  • 1.  Device Hostname and Function change issues

    Posted yesterday

I've inherited a central instance with a couple of naming convention/device function issues that I'd like to resolve. This is my first foray into New Central (although I'm a long time Aruba user), specifically with Hostname profiles and Device Functions/Personas, so apologies if these are simple things that I'm missing.

    • 1. As devices have been moved around the site, the System Information profile has been updated to change the host name, but the profiles have been created/named using the original name (see above). This leads to a confusing scenario.

I can't delete this profile - there is no bin next to it like in other profiles. I am in the correct context (the device). What is the best practice here? Do I need to reset the switch?

    2. Devices have been used around the site - but I can't change device functions in the global context/device inventory between access and core switches. The assign button is greyed out (see below). What is the best practice for correcting this?

    Thank you in advance, Ben

The persona assignment of devices generally is be done during onboarding.

after that you can use APIs to change it. check this "Assign device function to a list of devices."
