It's meant as a fallback, to get to your APs in case you configure a wrong static IP configuration.
Please work with Aruba Support, your Aruba partner, or local Aruba SE if you want to bring this to the attention of engineering and request an option to turn off this feature.

Why do aruba allow to set a static ip if they can overwrite however they please? A unreachable gateway could be temporary or also for maintenance reasons. We might also need to disconnect or reboot the switch. Everytime we have to search back our antennas? that's not a feature..
Also we deployed in two clients the same antenna in an environment without a dhcp in the network because there are only static fixed devices...

That fallback to DHCP should only happen if your default gateway is not responding (and there is no connectivity to the internet using the static IP), thus there is an issue with your network.
I don't think you can disable this feature. You could reach out to TAC, but before that, make sure you understand why your network is unreachable.

Hi. We have in our system some pretty old access point, aruba iap 207 rw. We updated the firmware to the latest version to solve a different problem but we discover only after updating that now in some circumstance the access point falls back to dhcp even if static ip is set like stated here:
https://community.arubanetworks.com/browse/articles/blogviewer?blogkey=0aa1caed-3274-4135-b658-8409703c68ac
Is there a way to disable this behavior. We didn't find one.
Thanks!
